# Momentan FAQ ## Getting started ### What is Momentan? Momentan is a private relationship app for remembering people, conversations, birthdays, plans, and follow-through across work and life. It connects People, Moments, Notes, Lists, Tasks, Calendar context, reminders, widgets, and optional AI features. ### Is Momentan a personal CRM? Yes. “Personal CRM” is a useful search and comparison category, but Momentan is not a sales pipeline. It is designed for the people you choose to remember—friends, family, colleagues, and clients—and for the context that helps you pick up where you left off. ### What platforms is Momentan available on? Momentan is available on iPhone and iPad through the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/momentan/id6748038675). A web companion at [app.momentan.app](https://app.momentan.app) works with supported synced structured records. Android is planned. Supported widgets depend on device and iOS version. ### Do I need an account? Yes. Sign up with email and password, Apple, or Google. Your account syncs supported structured records across devices. Stored photos, videos, contact photos, and original voice recordings stay on your device except when you deliberately invoke a feature that needs a bounded upload, such as transcription. ## Features ### What is a Moment? A Moment is an interaction or memory worth remembering—a call, dinner, trip, or quick catch-up. You can add notes, media, a location, and the people involved. Device-local media stays on the device where it was captured. ### How does Calendar work? Momentan can show events from the Apple Calendars you allow it to read. Calendar context can connect an event with linked attendees, People, Moments, notes, locations, and reminders. Momentan only receives the calendar access level you choose in iOS settings. ### What are Person and Meeting Briefings? A Person Briefing is a concise overview based on the Moments and details you saved about one person. A Meeting Briefing prepares context for a calendar event using linked attendee information. A successful Meeting Briefing session includes up to five follow-up questions during its 180-day session life. Briefings help with recall; your saved records remain the source material. ### What is Ask Momentan? Ask Momentan lets you type or speak naturally about the relationship information you saved. It can answer questions, fill in details, and create or update supported records such as People, Moments, Notes, Lists, Tasks, and reminders. Some requests can complete on the device; cloud AI features may send the bounded information needed for the request to authorized providers as explained in the Privacy Policy. ### Can I import my contacts? Yes. When you choose Import or Refresh and grant contacts permission, Momentan creates or refreshes profiles from the contacts available to the app. If you separately enable Continuous Refresh, Momentan may check for new or updated contacts within the access you permitted when the app becomes active and during opportunistic background work that iOS can delay or skip. When you save a new Person, Momentan may also make one best-effort Apple Contacts entry from the fields you confirmed; later Person edits and refresh do not edit or delete it. Contact photos stay on your device, while imported structured fields sync with your account. ### How do reminders and widgets work? You can add birthdays and relationship reminders to people. Momentan can surface upcoming birthdays, recent Moments, Lists, and reconnect prompts through notifications and supported home-screen or lock-screen widgets. Available widget sizes and notification options depend on your device and settings. ### How does voice transcription work? Voice transcription is optional and off by default. If you enable it, the audio needed for transcription is sent to the disclosed transcription provider. You can turn the feature off in Settings → Privacy. The original voice recording remains device-local. ## Privacy, data, and billing ### Who can see my data? Your records are private to your account and are not public to other Momentan users. Momentan has no public profiles or social feed. Authorized service providers may process limited data when needed to operate sync, security, support, or an AI feature you request, subject to the Privacy Policy. ### Where is my data stored? Supported structured records are stored on your device and sync to Momentan's service so they can be available across signed-in devices and the web companion. Photos, videos, contact photos, and voice recordings stay on your device except when you deliberately use a feature that needs a bounded upload, such as optional transcription. Data sent to the service is protected in transit, and hosted data is protected at rest. ### Can I export my data? Yes. Go to Profile → Account & Data → Export Data. Momentan creates a password-encrypted backup of supported structured records. Device-local photos, videos, contact photos, and voice recordings are not included, so keep separate copies of media you want to preserve. ### Is Momentan free? Yes. People, Moments, Notes, Lists, Tasks, reminders, supported sync, and existing records have no premium quantity limit. Free accounts also include Ask, Briefings, transcription, and business card scans. Momentan Pro is $7.99 per month after a 7-day free trial and adds larger monthly allowances. See the [Pricing page](/pricing) for the full comparison. ### What happens when I reach an AI allowance? Profile → Momentan Pro shows when each feature resets. You can wait for the reset or choose Pro for larger monthly allowances. Core records remain available. ### How do I delete my account? Go to Profile → Account & Data → Delete Account and complete email-code confirmation. Momentan attempts to delete the account and covered live production data through a retryable flow, then removes the requesting device's account vault after authoritative confirmation. Residual encrypted backups age out under provider recovery-retention periods and the limitations in the Privacy Policy.
